The past few campaigns I've been involved with - both running and playing - have seen the rather extensive use of fiction as a gaming aid, on both sides of the DM's screen. Short stories and sketches seem to be a pretty good tool for the DM to get across ideas and information that aren't strictly important to game play, but help the players get a better feel for the world they're playing in. They are also helpful to the players, as they can serve both as vehicles to further develop the character, as well as summarize the previous game session's events.
I would like to see this tradition continue. This section of the web site will serve as home to all of this "extra" text that my campaign (hopefully) generates. With luck, there'll be text here from people other than me - especially those critical "in-character journals" which serve as gaming summaries.
| This first column of fiction is really just bits and pieces that don't truly relate to anything. Some are stories left over from my previous Planescape campaign, and others came out of unused plot ideas. They are here mainly to serve as idea generators and a way to reacquiant folks with the setting. (Of course, they're also a good read for those who really have no clue about the setting and might help them to understand what they're getting into.) The second column is dedicated to stories that deal directly with the current campaign. They might be written by the players; they might be written by the DM. We'll see how many of each we end up with. | |||
